Free agency, Day 28

Let’s see what’s happening in the NFL with the draft quickly approaching.

Seahawks re-sign CB Marcus Trufant

The Seahawks re-signed cornerback Marcus Trufant to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

I love this signing. Trufant has been one of the best corners to ever play in Seattle and I always thought I was a shame that he might not finish his career there. So I was glad to see that he re-signed with the Seahawks. It
makes sense for the Seahawks to want him back as well. The main issue with Trufant wasn’t his level of play when he was healthy; it was that he wasn’t healthy enough to justify the contract he had. On a one-year deal, Trufant can work as the third corner and show the team that he can stay healthy. If he does, the Seahawks might just have the best set of corner in the NFL.

Eagles re-sign DT Derek Landri

The Eagles re-signed defensive tackle Derek Landri to a one-year contract.

This is another singing I like, though I fully acknowledge that it doesn’t solve the issues the Eagles have in the middle. Landri is smaller and quicker, which is good for the pass rush, but leaves a lot of vulnerability when it comes to the run defense. Still, Landri will work well in obvious passing situations and should e good in the rotation.

Redskins re-sign DE Kedric Golston

The Redskins re-signed defensive end Kedric Golston to an undisclosed contract.

Golston has been a very reliable player during his time with the Redskins. He’s solid in every aspect of the game, though he’s a better run defender than pass rusher, and he’s always been a solid sub. Generally speaking I like the signing and wouldn’t be surprised to see Golston end up as a starter is Adam Carriker or Stephen Bowen gets hurt.

Titans sign DL Leger Douzable

The Titans sign defensive lineman Leger Douzable to a one-year contract worth $700,000 dollars.

Douzable is a decent backup defensive tackle and should work well in the Titans defensive line rotation. I generally like this signing.

Redskins sign OT James Lee

The Redskins signed offensive tackle James Lee to an undisclosed contract.

With this signing, the Redskins add some more depth at tackle. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Redskins try to start him at some point, but he’s not going to beat anyone out for the job.
