Liberty and Alamo Bowls

The Liberty Bowl: East Carolina vs. Arkansas

Another game in which it would be easy to pronounce the SEC’s dominance over the college football landscape. However, Arkansas, minus the play of Ryan Mallett, is one of the least talented of the SEC teams. East Carolina on the other hand is a team completely built on speed and mismatches. East Carolina should be able to use these weapons to pound on Arkansas. Pirates win.

Prospects to Watch in this Game

East Carolina, Defensive End, C. J. Wilson: Undersized but quick and sudden. A great pass rusher who projects in the mid rounds. Might fit better as a 3-4 outside linebacker.

Arkansas, Defensive Tackle, Malcolm Sheppard: A little undersized, but still solid defender, both in the pass rush and run stuffing department. A mid to late round prospect.

The Alamo Bowl: Texas Tech vs. Michigan State

Thee best match up of teams with off-the-field problems this year. Seriously what is the deal with this game? Michigan State has to suspend 11 of their players and Texas Tech fired their winningest coach in history before this game. While Michigan State is short-handed, at least they are willing to play hard for their coach. I can’t necessarily say the same for the players of Texas Tech. Michigan State wins.

Prospects to Watch in this Game

Michigan State, Wide Receiver, Blair White: Tough and a good route runner, White projects to the mid rounds because of marginal speed. Also the history of WRs from Michigan State also hurts his stock.

Texas Tech, Cornerback, Jamar Wall: A corner with really good speed. His instincts have come into question and his toughness has also been questioned at times, leaving him in the mid to late round range as a prospect. His performance at the combine might improve his stock.
