Papajones,com and Cotton Bowls

The Papajohns.com Bowl: Connecticut vs. South Carolina

This game will be interesting watch. South Carolina has had trouble maintaining offensive continuity through the course of their season, allowing their defense to keep them in most games. Connecticut has been balanced between their good defense and offense. South Carolina should be fast enough and strong enough to blow out the Huskies. They probably won’t and keep the Huskies in, but they’ll still win. South Carolina that is.

Prospects to Watch in this Game

South Carolina, Linebacker, Eric Norwood: While somewhat undersized, Norwood is incredibly fast and powerful off the edge. He is mid round prospect due to his size, but his speed make him a hot prospect in the mold of Julian Peterson.

Connecticut, Defensive End, Lindsey Witten: Good height, though a little on the lighter side, he shows good explosiveness off the edge. While only a mid round prospect, he has good potential as nickel pass rusher.

The Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Mississippi

Oklahoma State had an incredibly explosive offense, then Dez Bryant was suspended. Since then they have had a very inconsistent offense. QB Zac Robinson is still very good at the position but will have to deal with a much faster SEC defense. Mississippi has a strong defense but their offense has become caught with a good number of turnovers. Oklahoma State should win because Robinson is better in his system than Jevan Snead is in his.

Prospects to Watch in this Game

Oklahoma State, Quarterback, Zac Robinson: A late round prospect much in the mold of a Colt Brennan or Chase Daniel. The system he plays in allows for him to put up better numbers than his skill set would show that he should. That being said, he has enough skills to be worth a look in the late rounds as a project and backup.

Mississippi, Runningback/Wide Receiver, Dexter McCluster: A smallish player who reminds me a lot of what Reggie Bush and Leon Washington are. His value lies in his ability to produce in a variety of ways. He should go some time in the first three rounds and will likely have to make an impact as a special teamer in his early years in the league.
