The Capital One Bowl: Penn State vs. LSU (Louisiana State University)
Common sense says that LSU is too athletic and fast to be beaten by Penn State. However, Penn State is one of the most efficient and athletic teams in the Big Ten. I’m still picking LSU, but Penn State could just as easily win this game.
Prospects to Watch in this Game
Penn State, Linebacker, Sean Lee: Yet another great linebacker coming from Linebacker U. He’ll likely be pout in the same category as Dan Conner, where his less than stellar measureables will over look his excellent production. He’ll start as a backup and work his way into a starting lineup after a few years.
LSU, Defensive End, Rahim Alem: An explosive pass-rusher, who has struggled to put up the numbers he did as a junior. Defensive system changes and loss of linemates may have something to do with lack of production. This mid-round prospect still has good potential as a pass rush specialist.
The Gator Bowl: West Virginia vs. Florida State
This game all comes down to motivation. West Virginia wants to win their fifth straight bowl game. Florida State wants to send the coach that put their team on the map out with a win. Florida State wins on that alone.
Prospects to Watch in this Game
Florida State, Linebacker, Dekoda Watson: While undersized, Watson fits the mold of great outside linebackers who previously came from Florida State (Like Derrick Brooks and Geno Hayes). While he can be fooled by good play action fakes, he has enough athleticism to recover and is a high energy tackler. Fits into the middle rounds.
West Virginia, Offensive Tackle, Selvish Capers: A former tight end who kicked inside for a better chance to play. He has been a solidifying force on the West Virginia offensive line. The work in the spread offense preps him well for NFL pass blocking and he is a vicious run blocker. A second round prospect.
