Another day, another three or four signings to comment on.
Lions re-sign RB
Kevin Smith
The Lions re-signed running back Kevin Smith to a one-year
deal.
I love this move. It shows faith in Smith to be an effective
runner when called upon and gives the Lions another option while Mikel Leshoure
and Jahvid Best recover from their respective injuries. I like the way
Smith plays when he’s healthy and he can be incredibly productive. It’s really just and issue of if he can stay healthy. Still, I love the faith the Lions are putting in him.

Falcons re-sign OC
Todd McClure
The Falcons will re-sign offensive center Todd McClure to an
undisclosed contract.
I normally don’t comment on signings that are projected,
even if the projected signing is coming from a good source. However, a signing
like this may not have any more commentary beyond one quick report. I like
this, much like everything else the Falcons have done. The Falcons hang on to their
long-time center and give themselves time to develop a young option to replace
him in the future.
Jets re-sign WR
Scotty McKnight
The Jets re-signed wide receiver Scotty McKnight to an
undisclosed contract.
McKnight is a bottom-of-the-roster king of player who will
have to have a stellar training camp to stick as the team’s fifth receiver. It’s
not a bad signing since it won’t cost much, but there will likely be no impact.
